Battle Creek Elementary School
Battle Creek Elementary School is nestled on the northern border of Battle Creek Regional Park, in the Battle Creek-Highwood neighborhood of St. Paul. It serves 444 students in grades Pre-K through 5.
The park plays a major role in the students’ education, with teachers using the trails and forests in their lessons on Minnesota’s natural resources. The school’s curriculum also includes science, physical education and music, in addition to core subjects.
Battle Creek Elementary boasts an active parent association that raises money for the school. To assist parents, the school creates an annual Family Engagement Plan that outlines the many events in which parents are encouraged to participate.
Battle Creek also offers a number of programs and services for students. These include:
- Early childhood family education
- AVID – Advancement via Individual Determination
- Minnesota Reading Corp
- Out of School Time Collaborative -- for students in grades K through 5. A collaboration between the school and local organizations that provides enrichment classes. It is free for all students.
Students that graduate from Battle Creek Elementary go on to Battle Creek Middle School and then Harding High School.
If you’d like to tour the school, call the office and make an appointment. Tours are held at 9 a.m. every Friday.
