If you feel like getting out and about this weekend there are a lot of things to do in St. Paul. We’ve picked out a couple that look interesting.

Flower Show

No, I haven’t been drinking and yes, I realize it’s 14 degrees outside right now.  I also know of a good way to forget what the weather is like for just an hour or so: The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory Winter Flower Show. It kicked off back in October and wraps up in March and if you haven’t been yet this year you should check it out.

The hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and admission is free, although they ask that you make a small donation if you can. The conservatory is located in Como Park at 1225 Estabrook Drive.

The Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a free admission place to come and have fun. Donations are appreciated at three dollars for adults and two dollars for children. The conservatory is open every day all year long with separate winter and summer hours.

You can take the Metro Transit straight to the Como and avoid having to find a place to park. There are so many great things to see and do at the Como. The Conservatory has figured out how to have everything fun and exciting for your family to do in one place.

The Main Attraction of the Conservatory

The main attraction of the Conservatory is the zoo with all sorts of creatures to learn from and admire. There are all types of animals from a cougar to a giraffe that everyone will enjoy seeing.

January’s MLS stats are out and St. Paul saw a healthy jump in its median sales price – it’s up 11 percent over the median sales price in January of 2014. It now stands at $149,835.

We saw fewer homes listed this January compared to last, closed sales decreased 8.6 percent and properties remained on the market longer this year, 102 days compared to 98 in January 2014.

The winning St. Paul neighborhoods

When we break the St. Paul real estate market down into neighborhoods we find clear winners and losers. These neighborhoods saw the largest increases in median sales prices:

  • West Seventh, up 69.8 percent to $170,250 
  • Dayton’s Bluff, up 50.7 percent to $130,000.
  • Greater East Side, up 36.4 percent to $137,400.

The Science Museum of Minnesota has been around since 1907. Ever since the first day they opened their doors they have been inspiring children to learn and improve their lives through the power of science. The building it occupies is close to 400,000 square feet, which is a huge amount of space.

The exhibitions area is 70,000 square feet and consists of five permanent galleries and a temporary exhibit gallery. The permanent gallery will cover everything from the human body to paleontology.

This particular museum is known all over the world for its interactive exhibits. It is also known for the large format films that get distributed all over the world.
