There is so much happening in St. Paul this month it was a real challenge to narrow down the list to just a couple of events. But we finally did it and here you go!
Music to Cure the Mid-Week Blues
Come on, feel like a kid again! Get out of the house tonight and head to the Excel Energy Center for Alice Cooper and Motley Crue in their “All Bad Things Must Come to an End” tour. In fact, this is the last time you’ll get to see the latter as they’re ending their touring career at the end of 2015. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. but there’s a happy hour at the gate from 5 until 7. Buy tickets here.
Celebrate the Irish
Set aside this Friday through Sunday (August 7 through 9) to celebrate all things Irish at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. Shop in the Celtic marketplace, check out the displays, pet the Irish dogs, eat some food and, natch, enjoy the libations.
There will be live music from a couple of local and international bands, Irish dancers and even a Color Me Irish 5K Run. Yes, the ZeroK Race is back this year.
The Irish Festival is being held at Harriet Island, across the river from Downtown St. Paul. You can find the schedule of events and more information online at irishfair.com.
It’s Fair Time!
The Minnesota State Fair opens at the end of the month, the 27th, and runs through September 7. You’ll find all the old favorites as well as some new features this year. Get free sunscreen for the whole family at all of the information booths scattered about, ride the two new rides at the Mighty Midway and more. Don’t miss the State Fair Gardens this year.
Music headliners this month include the Foo Fighters on August 22 and Alan Jackson on the 30th. Learn more about the 2015 Minnesota State Fair by visiting mnstatefair.org.
