If you’re thinking of buying a Minneapolis home in the Saint Anthony Park neighborhood and you’ll be sending your student to public school, he or she will attend Murray Middle School. With a total enrollment of more than 800 students (grades 6 through 8), and a full-time teaching staff of 51, Murray has a student-teacher ratio of about 16:1. At Murray, however, your child will have the same teacher and classmates for the entirety of the middle school years.

Aside from Murray’s core curriculum, the school offers an array of electives, such as orchestra, computers, drama, creative writing and ceramics. Some of the more popular programs the school offers include the Spanish and French language camps which occur off-campus and the band’s performances around the Twin Cities and beyond.

Murray’s athletic offerings include football, badminton, wrestling, track & field, baseball, soccer and basketball.

Test Scores and Rankings

Although Murray Middle School’s 8th graders didn’t quite keep pace with the state’s average on the 2015 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs), they handily beat the district’s in math, reading and science.

School rankings website ranks Murray 363 of 519 middle schools in Minnesota.

From Murray, students will go on to Como Park Senior High.

Murray Middle School is located at 2200 Buford Avenue in St. Paul. Reach the school’s office by phone at 651-293-8740
