Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. The traditional gifts of flowers and chocolates are still quite appropriate, but place your floral order early to ensure you’ll have it on February 14.

If you do nothing else to celebrate Valentine’s Day, give a gift of flowers. This is the one thing that women expect on February 14, but guys like as well and St. Paul is loaded with amazing florists.

Fleur de Lis in Cathedral Hill does an incredibly creative job on bouquets. They also carry cards, candles and other small gift items. You’ll find them at 516 Selby Avenue.

In the Mac-Groveland neighborhood you can’t go wrong by visiting Johnson & Sons Florist. Yelpers give them high praise for their flowers that are so fresh they last well over a week. Johnson & Sons is located at 1738 Grand Avenue

Where to Buy Chocolates in St. Paul

If you’re looking for something a little more special than the drugstore candies in the cardboard heart-shaped box, try giving hand-crafted chocolates instead. Mademoiselle Miel, in downtown St. Paul, creates honey bon-bons with honey from their own apiary on top of the building. The showroom is only open on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. but you can purchase the chocolates at The Apiary Salon, 2047 Grand Avenue.

Cathedral Hill’s Dr. Chocolate’s Chocolate Chateau is a fun place to shop for a Valentine’s Day gift. Located in a Victorian mansion, Dr. Chocolate carries organic, vegan, sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and others for the person with dietary challenges.
