On September 29th, 2000 the doors opened to the Xcel Energy Center, now it’s regarded as one of the finest arenas in the world. A completely one-of-a-kind multi-functional sports and entertainment facility. The Xcel Energy Center is situated at downtown Saint Paul’s. The center is home to more than 150 sporting and entertainment events and approximately 1.7 million visitors each year.

This center is built to showcase the game of hockey, and the “State of Hockey” tribute pays homage to the state’s official sport with exhibits throughout the Xcel Energy Center.

The Jerseys

One of the first things that greets guests to the center is the impressive circle of hockey jerseys. There is a jersey to represent every boy and girls high school hockey team within Minnesota. A new addition in 2012 was the Bud Light Top Shelf Lounge at the west end of the RBC Wealth Management Club Level.

With Xcel Energy Center is the first NHL Venue with internet access via Wi-Fi through AT&T. The entire center is connected with 24-7 Wi-Fi access covering the seating area, concession stands and concourse area. An official app was developed with push notifications to keep you up to date with the state of play and information on events, tickets and special offers.

There is a new custom HD LED center-hung video board that’s six times bigger than the one before it. The screens reaches from blue line to blue line so everyone can see the highlights and replays.

The Xcel Energy Center is near to a host of restaurants including:

  • Great Waters Brewing Co. (Located in the historic Hamm Building in the heart of downtown)
  • The Glockenspiel (located one mile west of Xcel Energy Center)
  • Kincaid’s (308 St Peter Street, St Paul)
  • Eagle Street Grill (located right across the street from Xcel Energy Center in St Paul)
