Looking to sell or buy a home in Como Park? Call The Kris Lindahl Team of Kris Lindahl Real Estate, your neighborhood St. Paul real estate team at (651) 968-2776. We are Como Park REALTORS® and experts on the St. Paul, MN housing market.

Como Park Real Estate Market

The real estate in the Como Park neighborhood is located in northwestern St. Paul. The cities of Falcon Heights and Roseville provide its western and northern borders, Lexington Parkway and the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks lie on the southwest border, Maryland Avenue and the southern shore of Lake Como provide borders to the southeast, and Dale Street on the east.

Rich in history, the neighborhood’s housing stock includes several early farmhouses, nineteenth century homes and Victorians. Concrete block houses with rock faces popped up at the turn of the last century and you’ll also find pre-WWII bungalows and period revival dwellings from the early to mid- 1900s. Then, of course there are ramblers and ranchers in the mix.

Como Park’s total population is just under 16,000. Most residents here own their homes for sale rather than rent. When you move here you’ll find that your fellow residents are an active bunch, taking full advantage of all there is to do in this St. Paul gem of a neighborhood.

Como Park Community Amenities

Como Park is primarily a recreational and residential area with few commercial and industrial buildings. Locals do enjoy the few local amenities and community hangouts, having lunch or coffee and pastries at Black Bear Crossings Café in the historic Como Lakeside Pavilion or a burger and happy hour cocktail on the patio at Como Park Grill (formerly the Java Train). If it’s a quick gallon of milk you need, stop in at Tim and Tom’s Speedy Market or take a 10 minute drive north to Roseville where you’ll find Lunds and Byerly’s or 10 minutes southwest to Aldi.

Entertainment and recreation in Como Park draws people from across the state. Como Park is the pride of the neighborhood and includes paths for walking, biking, rollerblading and hiking, groomed and well-lit cross-country ski trails, a golf course, ponds, a Japanese garden and more. Additional amenities  in Como Park include a large play area, four tennis courts, McMurray Athletic Field, four ball fields, a fishing pier, paddleboat rentals, lakeside pavilion, Como Town Amusement Park, a carousel and miniature golf.

Como Park Neighborhood Schools

Several of the neighborhood’s public schools are what the historical society call “historically significant.” Chelsea Heights School dates to the art deco period while Como Park Elementary reflects beaux-arts architecture (period from 1880 to 1920). While Como Park Elementary has its own planetarium, Como Park Senior High School is one of the highest rated schools in the state, according to Newsweek.

Charter schools in Como Park include Cyber Village Academy (serving grades 4 through 8), Great River School (Montessori, serving grades 7 through 12), and Metro Deaf School (PK through12). Private schools in Como Park include Holy Childhood School (serving students in grades K through 8) and Lubavich Yeshiva of Minnesota (grades 8 through 12).
